DALI lighting control
DALI, which stands for Digital Addressable Lighting Interface, is a manufacturer-independent standard for lighting control in buildings. It is specifically used in properties such as offices, shops, restaurants, and hotels.
Features:
- Global standard
- Lighting control for different loads
- Simple and affordable to plan
- Flexible
Flexible lighting control
As a digital alternative to the usual 1–10 V technology, it offers various intelligent functions to ensure the same convenience as complex bus systems – although it is much easier and less expensive to install. This is because a completely normal 5-wire NYM cable, for example, which is often present in the existing electrical installation, can be used both for the power supply and for control signal transmission. In addition, far fewer control components are needed than in a conventional 1–10 V system. The reason for this is that ballasts with a DALI interface are flexibly addressable. In other words, they can be controlled individually but also belong to one or more groups. In addition, they offer significantly enhanced functionality since they can save information for various light scenes, transmit status and error messages and reach dimming target values at the same time as all the other devices, to name but a few examples.
Gira DALI control devices
To ensure the convenient and intuitive dimming and control of lights with a DALI interface, Gira offers corresponding DALI potentiometers in various models. With installation in the device box and the suitable cover plates and frames, the Gira DALI control devices are seamlessly integrated into the Gira design system.
For controlling the brightness of lights with a DALI interface, in conjunction with an external DALI power supply or as an auxiliary unit for the Gira DALI potentiometer with integrated power supply unit.
For controlling the brightness of lights with an integrated DALI interface. The required DALI power supply is already integrated into the device.
For controlling the brightness and colour temperature of lights with an integrated DALI interface, which comply with the DALI standard IEC 62386-209 (Device Type 8). In conjunction with an external DALI power supply or as an auxiliary unit for the Gira DALI potentiometer Tunable White with integrated power supply unit.

The Gira DALI Tronic transformer supplies 12 V low-voltage halogen lamps with voltage and, thanks to an integrated DALI interface, also enables lighting control directly via the DALI system.
The Gira KNX DALI gateway Plus is the interface between the KNX installation in the building and a digital DALI lighting system. It enables switching of up to 64 lights in max. 32 groups and the implementation of complex scenes and dynamic light effects via the KNX system. It also allows for a great deal of flexibility during the subsequent lighting configuration process.
The Gira eNet DALI wireless control unit enables the switching and brightness setting of DALI lights.
